Gifted, Talented and Creative
Definition
Students, children or youth who give evidence of high achievement capabilities in areas such as intellectual, creative, acoustic or leadership capacity, or in specific fields, and who needs services and activities not normally provided by the school in order to fully develop. ***Not covered by IDEA or ADA***

Typically socially capable and normal- early and rapid learning- rapid language development- keen observations- problem solving skills- manipulates symbol systems- greater self awareness- high curiosity- overexcitability- strong internal control- independent- self directed- works alone- excessive self criticism- depression- self doubt-often perfectionists- unconventional thinkers

When giving assignments allow for options of tasks to complete assignment that touch different abilities- nominate them for gifted programs- have them attend other classes for particular subject- apply to real world problems- incorporate their strengths into other subjects to motivate them- open ended exploration- don't use them as class helps- incorporate multiple intelligences
